A Korean Dining Experience ♥

Well I do love Chinese, Thai, and Japanese food, but Korean food has never really been something that I have taken notice of. But one of my South East Asian friends offered to introduce me to Korean food and so OF COURSE I said yes. We went to a place in central London called "Kimchee".

This is what we had for a starter. It is prawn in a sweet and sour sauce, wrapped in a prawn cracker. So cute right? I did not actually notice it was a prawn cracker until my friend told me.

For a main I had some noodles of course. It had a hint of seafood, vegetables,chicken and a sort of sweet soy sauce to compliment it. To be honest with you It did not taste as nice as it looks, I feel like the sauce kind of ruined it...but it was still okay. 

Bora Blue cocktail♥

This cocktail was blueberry flavoured and relatively...different to say the least. I think it is perfect for the summer when the weather is extremely hot. I was a bit sad that they only gave me one blueberry in there ☹.

a guide to protein treatments ♥




Ingredients 
You will need 2 eggs, or more depending on the length of your hair. Some honey, some olive oil and a bowl. 



Now in terms of the egg you need to use a different section depending on the state of your hair. If your hair is dry you need to use the egg yolks of the egg, if your hair is oily you need to use the egg white part of the egg. First you whisk/stir your eggs into a bowl. Then you will need to add around 3 tablespoons of olive oil (but if you have oily hair then you might want to skip this part). Then you stir in a couple of tablespoons of honey. I find that honey helps to soften the hair, and it also eliminates that awful smell of egg. You apply this mixture either to wet or dry hair but I have found that it is easier on dry hair. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and leave it on for about 20 minutes. when you wash it out, do not use hot water as this will cook the egg in your hair. Use lukewarm water and make sure you follow up with a conditioner because your hair may feel a bit hard afterwards. The main purpose of a protein treatment is not to moisturise the hair, but to strengthen it from damage and split ends. The addition of honey and olive oil are just a little boost to try and add moisture. So you can do it solely with eggs if that is how you prefer it.

May 2015...the story so far ♥

It's now May and approximately one year to go before I graduate. So that time has come where I have started thinking about working on things that I really want to achieve.



          1. started keeping a journal

I figured that it might be interesting to keep a record of how my life, thoughts, and behaviour changes over the years. I have kept a journal before when I was 16 but that has been locked away and never read since. So I just started a journal again at the beginning of this month and hopefully it will continue for another few years.


2. preparing for French language course
I've been thinking about learning French. It's not really a language that interests me. The only reason I want to learn it is because I want to move to Canada in the future and French is the country's main language along with English. Considering doing a distance learning course in French alongside the final year of my degree.



         3. working on hair growth
from ages 9-13 I had REALLY long hair. As in it was thick and down to my waist. But at that age I discovered hair straighteners and over used them. So obviously my hair got ruined and became short. Now it's shoulder length and I am trying to grow it long again. With no straighteners or blow dryers, Eggs for protein treatments, Co-washing with Tresemme  naturals conditioner, and trimming my split ends. To be honest the hairdressers always CUT instead of TRIM which has also prevented the physical appearance of hair growth. So I may as well just trim myself.

Confidence ♥

                                    
   confidence is something that most females struggle with at some point in their life. We are always being segmented based on society's norms. Well you know what?...those norms really should not exist. A lot of us females base our whole lives on how we are "supposed" to look or act. At the end of the day everybody is different and that is what makes us beautiful. I'm quite sick of hearing things like "she is fat" or "real women have curves". I mean some people look a certain weight because they unfortunately have a problem such as anorexia or comfort eating. People come in all different shapes and sizes and it's okay. Girls are under constant pressure to lose weight and become slim. But at the end of the day you should be proud of the body that god gave you. Being the opposing weight does not always mean that the grass is greener on the other side. There are clothes that look good on bigger girls, and there are some that look good on slimmer. There are guys whose cultures prefer bigger girls, and some whose cultures prefer slimmer girls. 

Being a certain weight will not give you inner peace...having confidence regardless of your physical appearance will. Rather than looking at the negative side of your looks, try looking at the positive. I know there are people out there that are rude and may make comments, but those people are probably not happy within themselves. Oh and girls if it's people that you think you are close to that are making rude comments then guess what?...they are NOT your friends. It took me a long time to grasp this concept in my head, and I think it's something that I need to share. If you surround yourself with negative energy it has a way of bouncing back. 

one last thing...next time before saying "I can't"... turn around and say to yourself  "I can and I will." You'd be surprised at the differences that words can make.

Top 5 revision tips♥ ·

1. DRINK LOTS OF WATER

Drinking water is essential for concentration. I know most people
struggle to get in 5-8 glasses a day. But when you're studying there is no excuse. Put a water bottle on your desk and keep drinking as you study. I have started doing this and the difference really is noticeable during studying. A refreshed body is a refreshed mind. 

2. USE STUDY CARDS


This is probably the best bit of advice when it comes to studying. It sounds really unnecessary and time consuming but trust me it really does work. If you choose a different colour card for each topic, write the question on one side and the answer on the other. You can learn and test yourself at the same time. Spend about an hour learning a topic. Test yourself on the cards every few hours and notice how you start to remember things. This method is probably my secret to scoring 1sts and 2:1's in exams. 

3. TAKE BREAKS

It is important to take regular breaks whilst you are studying. 
You can't just sit there studying for 4 hours and expect anything to actually sink in. Take some breaks, read a magazine, do your nails, snack on some fruit. I love snacking from fruit bowls whilst reading and note taking from journal articles.

4. DO NOT CRAM

There may be a lot of topics to study but it's not good to try and remember everything in one go. It's better to split the topics into days or even weeks whilst studying. For example I have a 6 topic consumer behaviour exam coming up tomorrow. What I tend to do is study one topic for about 3 days and then move on to the next topic. This way is very systematic and ensures that you don't confuse yourself. 

5. TEST YOURSELF

sure its good to do a lot of studying. But whats the point if you don't know how much has truly sunk in?. You need to test 
yourself every now and then. Write out a paper with questions/theories from different topics and see how much has sunk in. This method also gives you an extra boost of confidence for the real exam.

This week in a nutshell♥

It began with a trip to Nando's...
I met up with someone I hadn't seen in a while for a lunch date. After contemplating between Italian or Mexican, we figured it would be a safe bet to go Portuguese at Nando's. 


It progressed to an earthquake rememberance...

There was some sort of peaceful remembrance/ fundraising ceremony being held in Leicester Square about Nepal's earthquake. Thousands of people sat in the middle of Leicester Square, candles were lit, their national anthem was sung, and money was donated for the victims in buckets. 

And my last assignments of the year were handed in...
 
It was such a relief to have handed in those last 3 assignments which totalled at 9000 words. Well 3000 of it was group work but lets just say that not everybody grasps the actual concept of group work. One more year and I am out of that dump of a university. The clock is ticking.
